English for Intermediate Learners Micro-credential

This micro-credential aims to strengthen and expand the language skills of learners, focusing on listening, speaking, reading, and writing at a level aligned with the B1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

Participants will explore a diverse range of linguistic structures and engage with topics such as body language, word-building, kindness, and unconventional events. Throughout the course, learners will develop their ability to comprehend extended speeches, engage in complex conversations, analyse sophisticated texts, and produce coherent and well-structured written pieces.

This Micro-credential offers a weekly learning module that integrates the four key language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Upon completion, graduates will be able to:

  1. Understand extended speeches, lectures, and most TV news, while effectively following complex lines of argument on familiar topics.
  2. Engage in spontaneous interactions with native speakers, enabling comfortable and meaningful communication.
  3. Read articles and reports, understanding the writers’ particular attitudes or viewpoints.
  4. Write clear, detailed texts on a wide range of subjects and write essays/reports passing on information or giving reasons for a particular viewpoint.

Age Requirements:
  • Domestic learners: Must be 16 years or older.
  • International learners: Must be 14 years or older.
General Requirements:
  • All learners must possess a valid visa (if applicable) and have suitable travel and medical insurance.
  • Every learner will undergo an English proficiency test to confirm they are placed at the appropriate level.
